Dr August Hanning

August Hanning is the former head of the German intelligence service and G3’s senior adviser in Germany

Dr August Hanning was the head of the Bundesnachrichtendienst (German intelligence service) from 1998 to 2005. He then served for four years as the State Secretary for Germany’s Federal Interior Ministry.  During his career he was responsible for a wide range of security and intelligence operations, and has special expertise in the Middle East, Russia and other former Soviet Union states.
